In 1986 Steve Moore launched Minibus Options from his home office in Bollington. Having worked as Sales Manager for an Ambulance manufacturer Steve identified a need for Charities to be able to procure quality custom built minibuses, a need which was not being fulfilled by the manufacturers of the day.

Minibus Options was launched with a keen focus on providing cost effective mobility for small Charities and Community Transport operators.

Initially vehicles were produced by a third party vehicle converter until it was established that it was only possible to achieve the desired level of quality by bringing vehicle manufacturing in house.

In 1989 premises were acquired in Whaley Bridge and in 1990 production commenced with a small team.

Along side the production facility Steve introduced the idea of a unique showroom which would house a permanent exhibition of specialist equipment to assist customers in developing bespoke specifications, a facility still frequently used by customers today.

Initially the factory produced single units for Charity and Community Transport organisations and grew a loyal customer base and a reputation for excellent service.

Over the years the company expanded both the numbers of people and production space to meet the growing demand from the market. This included bringing on board his sons Jonluka, Fred and David who took on roles which reflected their interests and abilities.

Today the company, a well established family business, maintains the ethos of providing cost effective mobility, though the range of customer segments they serve and the range of products offered have grown exponentially.

Customers now include Community Transport, Local Charities, National Charity Fleet, Nursing Homes, Hospice, NHS, Schools, Sports Clubs, Youth Groups, Religious Institutions and Local Authorities. In addition to working with end users directly, Minibus Options also support Leasing and Fleet Management companies, and Manufacturer dealership and fleet teams to provide specialist solutions for their customers.

Working as an Accredited Minibus Manufacturer and in partnership with European commercial vehicle manufacturers, Minibus Options is at the forefront of specialist passenger vehicle development. As well as offering bespoke specifications on 11 different manufacturers current diesel platforms, they continue to develop offerings on newly produced Hybrid and Electric vehicle platforms ensuring their place as a leading authority on Ultra Low Emission and Zero Emission commercial passenger vehicles.

Associations, Approvals and Accreditation’s

Minibus Options work at fleet level with all European Manufacturers who offer commercial vehicles on the UK market.

All manufacturers offer technical bodybuilder manuals which dictate methods of construction. This is a minimum standard which allows conversions to be made to their products to suit the way in which their vehicles were designed and in following these instructions assures uncompromised quality.

In addition to following these bodybuilder standards most manufacturers run approval programs which vary in complexity.
Approvals and Accreditation’s are gained by proving via assessment the companies ability to adhere to strict production guidelines and professional standards. Minibus Options undergoes periodical assessments from a number of manufacturers to ensure that both the production facility and the vehicles it produces continue to meet high technical standards.

Minibus Options commits to matching base vehicle warranty periods and provision of service for vehicles on the road.

Management team

Steve Moore – Managing Director and founder since 1986. Joined Commercial Vehicle industry in 1978. Specialist knowledge in product detail and legislation.

Jonluka Moore – Production Director, joined 1992. CAD / CAM, Homologation expert, Manufacturer trained. Specialist in vehicle and component engineering, and technical design.

Fred James (Moore) – Sales Director, joined 1995. Specialist in customer relations, Manufacturer liaison, vehicle specification design.

David Moore – Operations Director, joined 2005. Specialist in IT and systems management. Developed bespoke in-house software including management systems and unique intelligent quote program.
